The STORM WebCie (Website Committee) had been thinking about updating the site,
but suddenly there was more need for one than ever before.

We know it's been a while since there was anything interesting here, but we promise to keep improving our new site.

Behold, the Lustrum ticket prices for the week of February 4th to February 12th! It is going to be a week of not-to-miss events, so be sure to grab your tickets on time! The tickets go on sale **January 11th, 2023**.

Please note that all events are members-only, for the exception of the borrels, Bingo, and the gala party. A non-member +1 is allowed for the gala dinner. Be aware that the passepartout does not include the weekend and the gala dinner. However, it does give a sizeable discount!

Are you passionate about programming and do you enjoy solving challenging programming puzzles? Then enter the Amsterdam Universities Programming Contest (AUPC) on the 23rd of September!

STORM and via (University of Amsterdam) are proud to jointly organize this year's AUPC at lab42 (Science Park). Previously known as the Amsterdam Algorithm Programming Preliminaries (AAPP), this is the preliminary round for the Benelux Algorithm Programming Contest (BAPC). Here, you and your team (max. 3 members) solve as many programming problems as possible within a tight time limit. For this, you will use languages such as Python, C, C++ and Java. But with only one laptop per team, you will have to divide the tasks cleverly! The best teams at the contest will be rewarded with prizes!

For eligible VU teams (see [ICPC eligibility tree](https://drive.google.com/file/d/15Wk1nODkAqdUuS6tZnCt2Wrscpvx1QGO/view)), there is also the chance to advance to the BAPC to represent our university. In short, all team members have to be VU students and meet at least one of the following conditions:
* First year of post-secondary studies in 2019 or later
* Born in 2000 or later
* Have not completed more than 240 points of ECTS
This year, the BAPC is being organized by the University of Amsterdam, so there is no better time to take part! The best BAPC VU teams also get to go to NWERC, an international programming contest within Northwest Europe, which is held in Delft this year. The best NWERC team in general are able to partake at the European championship in Prague!

## Game rules
For this competition, your team will be allocated a laptop without internet access and printers will be provided during the competition to print code. It is also possible to bring your own non-programmable wired keyboard and/or mouse. Furthermore, you are allowed to bring your own cheat sheet, which may consist of a maximum of 25 sides and may be self-written or found online. Each team member may bring an exact copy of this. Last but not least, you are always welcome to bring your own mascot. All extra items will be checked first by the jury before the contest starts. Peaked your interest? Don't wait any longer and sign up to prove your programming talents! Registration is done in the ICPC registration system, where [all team members will need to make an account to sign up](https://icpc.global/register) for the event. The person who creates your team, will initially be the “contestant coach” of this team, and can add the max two remaining team members next to the team name in the fields below.

Amsterdam University Programming Contest

As the VU is allowing the students back on campus we are happy to announce the reopening of the StoKa. The Stoka (WN-S0.10) will be open from 08:45 to 22:00 on weekdays.

As there are still restrictions regarding the COVID situation, we have decided to implement a set of related rules that we kindly ask everyone to follow. These rules will be in effect at least until the 25th of September when the government will announce the new measures.

### Rules

- Please keep 1.5 meters distance
- A maximum of 15 people is allowed in the StoKa to avoid having a too crowded place
- In case more than 15 people wish to enter the room, priority is given to those who are here for educational purposes
- Buying and/or consuming alcoholic beverages is not allowed at any time
- Do not come if you have COVID symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, etc.)

In order to take advantage of the sodas and snacks at STORM you will need a K&T account. New members that wish to make an account can go to the StuKa (WN-T0.28) between 12:45 - 13:30 on weekdays.

Welcome back on Campus!

After nearly 1.5 years we're happy to announce that our beloved StoKa is fully open! The limit of 15 people has been lifted, and buying bier is also allowed (after 15:00 of course).

Join us to study on our comfortable couches, ruin friendships over foosball and play dozens of board games with a beer. We're open every day from 9 in the morning until 10 in the evening, at WN-S0.10.

# Events For February 2022

Unfortunately at the end of the last year we had to cancel and postpone a couple of the events that we had planned. This included the annual Christmas Dinner. Due to the COVID regulations that were imposed it is very difficult for us to plan any non-educational events on campus. Hopefully soon we will be allowed to plan all of our events again on campus but until then we will still try to plan external events.

### AAPje
We are excited to announce and invite you and your team to take part in AAPJE 2022! AAPJE is the “junior” edition of the Amsterdam Algorithm Programming Preliminaries. You and your team will battle against others by finding the best solutions to a set of given problems.

Study association STORM will be hosting AAPJE. This event is aimed at first-year students who wish to practice for the preliminaries, which serve as a qualification for the Benelux contest, the European contest, and the World Championships! Because of this, only first-year student teams will qualify for the prizes. However, other year groups can join for fun!

Hack4Her is the first women-only hackathon created as a collaboration between STORM and the VU. Hack4Her aims to provide a safe, woman-centered space to develop and showcase technical problem-solving skills. This 2-day event will be comprised of hacking, mingling, presentations, and free food!

Our partners Adyen are hosting an in-house day on the 14th of June from 13:00 until 17:00.

Do you have an interest in the Fintech industry? Are you curious about where to apply your skills after university? Participate in Adyen’s in-house day to find out more about what they do and how they go about it.

Adyen took an unobvious approach to starting a payments company and built a platform from scratch. Today, they are the payments platform of choice for the world's brightest companies. Their unobvious approach is a product of their diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, is essential in maintaining their momentum.

This event is open to all STORM members. There will be a more information Adyen, their engineering team and their career opportunities. Students will also take part in an interactive task that will mirror a real-life challenge for Adyen employees.

### In-House Day Ayden
Our partners Adyen are hosting an in-house day on the 14th of June from 13:00 until 17:00.

Do you have an interest in the Fintech industry? Are you curious about where to apply your skills after university? Participate in Adyen’s in-house day to find out more about what they do and how they go about it.

Adyen took an unobvious approach to starting a payments company and built a platform from scratch. Today, they are the payments platform of choice for the world's brightest companies. Their unobvious approach is a product of their diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, is essential in maintaining their momentum.

This event is open to all STORM members. There will be a more information Adyen, their engineering team and their career opportunities. Students will also take part in an interactive task that will mirror a real-life challenge for Adyen employees.
